However, it can lead to complications ranging from mild allergic reactions to severe, life-threatening conditions. The main aim of this study was to determine nurse’s knowledge and practice regarding the handling of platelet transfusion. Setting: The study was conducted in pediatric department at El Menoufia University Hospital.  All available nurses working in the hospital (40 nurses) were included in the study. Tools: Two tools were utilized for this study. tool one: A structured questionnaire sheet was divided into two parts to detect demographic characteristic and nurses' knowledge about platelet transfusion. Tool two: Observational checklist was used to assess nurses' practices during platelet transfusion according to needs. The results of this study indicated that there were highly statistical significant differences between nurses' knowledge on pre and post-tests. The study concluded that implementation of educational program showed an improvement in nurse's knowledge and performance.
